Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: Earth
Event Time: 2026-05-07T15:16Z ( ACE: MAG )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
ACE: MAG
ACE: SWEPAM
Activity ID: 2026-05-07T15:16:00-IPS-001 (version 3)
Quality of ICME Signature: 2 (clear signatures)
Note: Characterized by an initial steep increase in B_total from 4.8nT to 20nT 2026-05-07T18:23Z. A subsequent increase in speed is observed from ~330 km/s to ~420 km/s. Subsequent increases in temperature and density are observed alongside the increases in Btotal and speed. This is likely a signature of the corotating interaction region preceding the clear high speed stream from the equatorial coronal hole which crossed the central meridian on 2026-05-04, with the start of at L1 on the morning of 2026-05-08. If it is concluded that there is an admixture of a CME, the sole possible candidate may be a CME related to an eruption centered near S25E10 starting around 2026-05-04T18:15Z seen in SDO AIA 193. No corresponding CME was visible in coronagraphs, however, as it may have been obscured by the coronagraphs.
